Motion design, run on simulation.

Nine years making things move. Commercials, product work, titles, loops. Most of it is built in Houdini, because physics is a better animator than a graph editor. Some of it leaves the screen and goes into a room.

Ten layers, ten years. Move the cursor into the form, then click it.

01 · What the work is

Method

I am a motion designer. Most of what I make is film. Commercials, product work, titles and loops, and most of it is animated by physics rather than by hand.

The motion is built in Houdini as simulation. Cloth, particles, fluid, destruction, all set up procedurally so a shot can be art-directed and run again instead of rebuilt. Simulated motion carries weight that keyframed motion does not, and building it myself means the creative decision and the technical one happen together.

The other half is where I started. Taking a simulation out of the viewport and putting it somewhere physical. On fabric hanging in a hall, on a statue that listens to the crowd, on a stage in time with an ensemble. I trained in architecture before I moved to 3D, and a frame on its own has never quite been enough.
